The box set is replete with extra features, none of which feel like low-value fillers and provide interesting and entertaining insights into the production and direction of the show.

All the Guts Inside is a special effects short documentary focussing on a gruesome zombie autopsy scene involving Daryl and Rick in the first episode. This is one of the leading gore-factor scenes of the second season and will turn even the most concrete of stomachs. Following this, Live or Let Die focuses on points in the plot where the series deviates from that of the comic. This will be of particular interest to those who have followed Kirkman’s series since 2003.

The Meat of the Music follows the peerless composition work of Bear McCreary composer for the show. McCreary discusses the various influences, such as Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958), for his truly exceptional work which culminates in the use of a full orchestra for the final episode of season two.

Fire on Set takes the viewer on set to Herschel’s farmhouse and The Ink is Alive takes an in-depth look at Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comic series, where the creator and producer offers up some fascinating observations into how reciprocal inspiration occurs between the writers of the book and the show.

You Could Make a Killing follows the work Greg Nicotero, Co-Executive Producer and Special Effects Make-Up Designer, who coincidentally started out as an assistant to George A. Romero. It’s worthy of note that Nicotero’s contribution to the show has been such that he takes a seat in the director’s chair for the second season.

Taking a look at Laurie Holden’s character, Andrea, She Will Fight provides the viewer with a close-up on one of the survivors who possibly evolves most significantly alongside Rick and Shane; and Wardrobe of The Walking Dead looks at the day-to-day activities of Eulyn Womble, Costume Designer for the show.

There are also a number of interviews with cast and crew from TV spots in the run-up to the season premiere and an array of additional deleted scenes; including an extended clip where the group revisit one of the locations from season one where they encountered fellow survivors.

The plethora of extras amounts to hours of additional viewing fun and will keep the most die-hard fans of the show happy.
