To The Ends Of The Earth

The picture quality is disappointing, particularly for such a recent television series. The colours are flat and lifeless, beyond what below deck dreariness should look like. There is a fair amount of graining present, too. On a couple of brief occasions poor special effects appear to have been made more noticeable by the picture quality.

The stereo mix isn't used to any great effect, although there aren't any actual problems with it. There are no subtitles on either the main feature or the extras.

It may not be a world beater, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Behind The Scenes featurette. It ticked all the necessary boxes and provided a worthwhile view of production techniques, coupled with interesting insights from a number of the stars.

I still don't know why people put picture galleries on DVDs, though. Yawn.
