Whether you've just enjoyed this film at the cinema or you're looking forward to sinking your teeth into it for the first time, there are plenty of great reasons to buy this DVD. For starters, it's a perfect party film and just the thing to put on whenever you need a bit of cheering up, so it'll get plenty of use, but it also comes with an impressively meaty collection of extras to enjoy.

Foremost among these are the diaries shot as the film was in production, a lengthy collection of short clips expertly edited together so that you won't to risk taking your eyes off the screen for a moment. Essentially just cameo footage of cast and crew working or - more often - messing about, they're tremendous fun throughout, and surprisingly informative. Whilst a lot of behind the scenes features might teach you a thing or two about filmmaking, this one will teach you about Australia, explaining that there are over 700 species of eucalypt trees and showing you how to tell the difference between wombat and kangaroo poo. You'll also learn about zombie dental hygiene, what not to tell your mum about the holes you drilled in her garage door, and what to do when the police turn up on set because someone reported a stabbing. Along the way there's a lot of mud and gratuitous quantities of fake bodily fluids splashing over everything ("And you wonder why so many people slow down and ask 'Are you guys okay?"), plus a bit of impromptu dancing, some enthusiastic fight rehearsals and fun with the special effects team. A number of gratuitous liberties are taken with a cast and crew who are not getting paid, but somehow it all hangs together and despite all the hardships they seem to be having the time of their lives.

If this weren't enough, this package also includes two quite lengthy videos made as part of the post-production crowdfunding appeal, an extended teaser scene combining several different story elements from the finished film, a a set of storyboards whose horror comic influences are plain to see. Then there's a set of deleted scenes which vary in quality, as these things tend to, but which includes some really good stuff as well as a number of revelations about the plot that never made it into the final version. Overall, this is one of the best DVD packages for quite some time.
