Filmed in standard widescreen, the 1.85:1 anamorphic picture is pretty damn good-looking despite lacking the shine of a new production. The film has a rather dark color pallet and atmospheric cinematography, and this transfer does it justice. It's the perfect way to enjoy an SFX-filled production.

Originally recorded in 70mm 6-track stereo, the soundtrack has been remastered in Dolby 5.1. It's nothing spectacular but the loud sound effects come through crystal clear and Bruce Broughton's wonderful score is almost constantly filling up the voids.

Obviously still sour of the film's failure, Paramount have rudely dumped it onto DVD and thrown it out there with not one extra. Maybe in the future we'll get a special edition where Levinson and Columbus finally have their say but it's nice just to have it for the moment. At least it looks good.
