There is no denying the picture quality on this DVD, which perfectly captures the excellent cinematography used in the film, and it is backed by decent Dolby Digital 5.1. There is also no denying that it is incredibly light in terms of extras. Bizarrely, the issuer has chosen to rub the buyer's nose in it with the inclusion of a trailer for Zodiac The Director's Cut - due next year - which promises many of the extras you might reasonably have expected to find here. Apparently, next release around, this disc will have commentaries, documentary-based footage and a whole heap more.

The only extra on this disc, however, is a This Is Zodiac 30-minute featurette. It is substantial and reveals the almost obssessive level of detail director David Fincher goes in to when creating his movies... including the chopping down and airlifting of a tree to make one of the crime scenes look authentic (friends of the forest may well be shocked). There are also the obligatory talking heads with cast and crew, and these are, interestingly, fleshed out with interviews with some of the people depicted in the film, including Robert Graysmith.

Interesting though it is, however, you are still left wanting more and those lookin for a decent amount of bang for their buck would be advised to hang on for the two-disc edition.
