The Birds Eye View festival celebrates the work of women in film and this festival sees a particularly strong line-up. From Sarah Polley's assured directorial feature debut Away From Her - which tackles the issue of Alzheimer's, to thriller Stephanie Daley and a host of excellent shorts from across the world, this is a showcase to be reckoned with. Of particular interest to lovers of rare film is the silent film strand, offering live sound to silent film, including work by surrealist pioneers Germaine Dulac and Maya Deren. The films will be screened at the Institue for Contemporary Arts in London from March 8 to 14.
