The Oscars - nominations and summary!

Will the Blood Diamond be the Dreamgirls best friend? Not likely, mate... Read on!

by Scott Macdonald

With a triumphant 8 nominations, Dreamgirls jumps the pack with its own blend of Chicago style razzle-dazzle. But Babel comes up strong with seven nominations including the crucial Best Picture and Director nods.

The stunning Pan's Labyrinth and her Majesty The Queen fight over six nods, while DiCaprio's The Departed and Blood Diamond scrape a sparkling five apiece - including that coveted Director nod for Marty. Will it be his year, finally? Or will Clint deny him again with his acclaimed Letters From Iwo Jima?

Who was robbed, which of them are overrated? Personally, I'm distraught that Children Of Men is virtually shut out of the top awards - but an Adapted Screenplay will have to do.

Without further ado...
