Crossing Borders in Berwick

Film and Media Arts Festival showcase explores the subject of boundaries - real and imagined - from September 16 to 25

by Amber Wilkinson

Berwick-Upon-Tweed has put together an exciting showcase of film as part of its inaugural Film and Media Arts Festival from September 16 to 25.

This year's theme is Crossing Borders with their programme of feature films and videos intended to "explore the boundaries that define and sometimes confine our lives, with work that encourages us to cross these geographical, cultural, economic, moral or artistic borders and broaden our horizons".

Feature film highlights include Jimmy Glick in Lalawood - a star-studded romp set at the Toronto Film Festival and the English premiere of Iranian film Bitter Dream - a mockumentary about graveyard workers. Plus there are classics including Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes and A Room With A View.

Short film highlights include the spooky Iota and Quicken, plus excellent animation The Tree Officer

Feature film tickets are a very reasonable £3.50 and many of the other events are free. For further details and the full programme visit www.berwickfilm-artsfest.com
