Birds Eye View launches on International Women's Day

Festival showcasing the best females in film-making kicks off at NFT on March 8

by Amber Wilkinson

Bird's Eye View 2006 launches at the NFT on March 8 with a selection of short films - including the Oscar-nominated Badgered - and film premieres.

The evening will be hosted by Annabella Weir, with a directors Q&A following the screening.

There will also be a free party for all ticket holders in the NFT filmcafe with sounds from London’s top female DJs. 10pm-midnight.

The films on show are:

Fourteen - the UK premiere of this short film that's fresh back from Sundance. Hannah wakes up on her birthday, but what else lies in store?

Badgered - Sharon Coleman's Oscar nominated short about a badger who just wants to sleep.

Holiday - A French film about a stolen car on a summer day.

Susie - Controversial winner of the Jameson Short Film Award, in which a woman’s masturbatory fantasies become a bizarre folk tale.

Uten Tittle (Untitled) - Another short from Sundance. Director Anja Breien's evocative short is a series of still shots, without dialogue leaving the viewer to find what sense they will.

Fish Eye - Documentary from the perspective of a Czech Carp.

Tickets available from the NFT box office 020 7928 3232 www.bfi.org.uk/nft

Tickets £11.50 (members £10.50) concessions £9.25 (includes post screening party 10pm-midnight)
