Peter Rogers dies at 95

Long-time Carry On producer mourned.

by Amber Wilkinson

Carry On film producer Peter Rogers died, aged 95, on Wednesday.

Rogers, who was responsible for all 31 films in the famous series, was still hoping to get an additional Carry On project off the ground at the time of his death.

Although beginning his career as a news reporter, he quickly moved into film and worked for Pinewood Studios for 50 years.

Ivan Dunleavy, chief executive at Pinewood Shepperton, said: "Peter was an institution at the studios. "The 'Carry On' films, for which he was most well known ... were enjoyed by millions internationally and will always remain a part of modern British culture."

His life's work was honoured at the British Comedy Awards in 1990 and by the London Critics' Circle in 1996.

Rogers was married to fellow producer Betty Box, who died in 1999.
