A love story like no other

Michael Moore reveals his latest project.

by Jennie Kermode

"It will be the perfect date movie," says Michael Moore of his new documentary project. "It's got it all--lust, passion, romance, and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day."

He's talking about Capitalism: A Love Story. After many years spent exploring related issues, Moore is now going straight for the jugular, exploring the effect of corporate dominance and unregulated profit-seeking on the world economy. Though its main focus, as with his previous films, will be on America, Moore plans to place this in an international context. "It's the biggest robbery in the history of this country," Moore says of recent corporate gains, and he plans to investigate both its origins and its impact.

Drawing on the stories underlying the recent economic downturn, Moore's film benefits from the participation of disaffected Wall Street investors who have reportedly chosen to break ranks and spill their secrets. It's lined up for a 2nd October release in the States but the UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
