The shooting has begun on Mike Leigh's first film since the award-winning Happy-Go-Lucky.

The film, which is being referred to as Untitled 09 until a title is decided on, will shoot for nine weeks in London.

Among the cast are Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville.

Michele Austin, David Bradley, Phil Davis, Karina Fernandez, Oliver Maltman, Stuart McQuarrie, Martin Savage, Ruth Sheen and Peter Wight complete the cast of 12.

Most of the cast have collaborated previously with Leigh, with only Bradley and McQuarrie making their first film with the director.

Also rejoining Leigh are many of his regular crew including cinematographer Dick Pope, editor Jon Gregory, casting director Nina Gold, costume designer Jacqueline Durran and hair and make-up supervisor Chrissie Blundell.

The film is financed by Focus Features International, the UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund and Film4. International sales are handled by Focus Features International, and UK rights have been acquired by Momentum Pictures.
