In The Loop scoops three awards at Scottish BAFTAs

Political the big winner at annual awards.

Political satire In The Loop was the landslide winner at the Scottish BAFTAs tonight.

The big-screen spin-off from The Thick Of It netted the best directing award for Armando Ianucci and the Glasgow-born writer also shared the writing gong Jesse Armstrong and Simon Blackwell.

He said: "I'm delighted to get the director award because it is what I enjoy doing."

Acting honours, meanwhile went to the film's star Peter Capaldi.

Crying With Laughter - directed and written by Justin Molotnikov - was named best feature film.

Local Hero and Gregory's Girl director Bill Forsyth won a special award for outstanding contribution to film.

Life Of A Pigeon, written and directed by Billy Campbell, was named best short film.
