Edward Hogg named one of Europe's Shooting Stars

White Lightnin' star honoured among cream of acting talent

by Amber Wilkinson

British actor Edward Hogg has been named as one of this year's Shooting Stars by European Film Promotion.

The Yorkshire-born star of White Lightnin and Bunny And The Bull is among 10 actors recognised as the cream of up and coming European talent.

Irish actor Robert Sheehan (Cherrybomb, Red Riding) was also among those chosen for presentation Berlin International Film Festival from 13 to 15 February 2010.

Selected from a long-list of 21, the remaining 8 Shooting Stars for 2010 are Zrinka Cvitesic (Croatia), Krystof Hadek (Czech Republic), Pihla Viitala (Finland), Michele Riondino (Italy), Anders Baasmo Christiansen (Norway), Agata Buzek (Poland), Dragos Bucur (Romania) and Lotte Verbeek (The Netherlands).

The jury said: "As we worked individually and then met as a group, it was clear to all of us on the jury that this was an unusually rich year for European acting talent.

"Choosing ten actors was both difficult and exciting. When we had completed our task we discovered that this was a strong year especially for talent from Central and Eastern Europe.

"We also learned that the telling of challenging stories and new, dynamic filmmaking styles were assisted immeasurably by the contributions of these brave performers."
