Short but sweet

Rushes Soho Shorts programme announced

by Jennie Kermode

They're short films announced at short notice - the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival opens on Wednesday next week - but they're great viewing, and with such a wide selection on offer, you're bound to find something you like. This year's event, running at the ICA in London, has gathered no fewer than 170 films from all around the world. Many are free to go and see, and the exciting programme includes lots of further events.

Now in its 12th year, the festival includes work by established talents such as Robert Pattinson, Celia Imrie, Jodie Whittaker and Jenny Agutter as well as some highly talented beginners. There are action films, documentaries, dramas, some stunning pieces of animation and some cutting edge music videos. There are also parties, quizzes and competitions. Some of the filmmakers will be in attendance so you can get the chance to meet them, and if you're lucky you'll get to pick up some free promotional goodies.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 21 to 31 July, can be purchased from the ICA box office (free events are also ticketed so book now to make sure you can get in). The final day will feature a celebrity packed awards ceremony.
