Disney Pixar's latest animation Brave is the tale of an unusual princess, set against the backdrop of the Scottish landscape - so it seems rather appropriate that there has been 'typical' Scots weather of both torrential rain and glorious sunshine in the week when the stars came to Edinburgh to promote the film.

Kelly Macdonald (who voices the central character of Merida), Robbie Coltrane (who provides vocals for Lord Dingwall) and Kevin McKidd (who puts in a Doric-inflected turn as Lord MacGuffin and his son) – attended a press event with director Mark Andrews, producer Katherine Sarafian and executive producer John Lasseter.

We'll be bringing you more details of Brave - which will have its European premiere as the closing night film of the Edinburgh Film Festival and opens across the UK on August 17 - in the next few weeks. See photos from the Brave junket at Prestonfield House Hotel.

In the meantime, here's a trailer to whet your appetite...
