Part of Dublin was brought to a standstill yesterday after a giant Minion broke loose and charged into traffic on Swords Road. The house-sized balloon version of Kevin, which had been attached to a fairground to promote the film Minions, came free of its moorings and went bouncing around the city before collapsing in front of cars. Fortunately, although one vehicle lost a wing mirror, no-one was injured. Passers-by helped the guardai to let air out of the balloon so it could be safely brought under control and taken away in a wheelbarrow.

Local councillor Paul McAuliffe reported the Minion to the city planning authority.
