On September 18, at 3:05pm, as part of the Wim Wenders: Portraits Along The Road in New York, film journalist Anne-Katrin Titze will present Wenders' and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's The Salt Of The Earth on the life and work of master photographer Sebastião Salgado.

In an upcoming conversation on Until The End Of The World, Wim and I discuss Sam Shepard's influence before he worked with Volker Schlöndorff on Max Frisch's Homo Faber. We also talk about Yasujiro Ozu actors Chishû Ryû and Kuniko Miyake, Alfred Hitchcock and San Francisco, Chen Kaige and China, Robby Müller and Vermeer, and look forward to Michael Almereyda's Experimenter.

Starring Solveig Dommartin, Max von Sydow, William Hurt, Jeanne Moreau, Rüdiger Vogler and Sam Neill, with original music contributions by Nick Cave, U2, Julee Cruise, Lou Reed, Neneh Cherry, R.E.M., Patti Smith, Daniel Lanois, T-Bone Burnett and Elvis Costello, the director's cut of Until The End Of The World, at 4 hours and 49 minutes, is a not to be missed highlight.

In the César Best Documentary Film winner and Oscar-nominated The Salt Of The Earth, Sebastião Salgado's images on the big screen are a visual gift as much as the subject matter of his work is a scream for change. Salgado, when we first see him here, could be John Ford looking out over the plains.

Other presenters, besides Wim Wenders himself, included: filmmaker Lucy Walker on Buena Vista Social Club, with exclusive footage from her new film Buena Vista Social Club: Adios; Faraway, So Close! by camera assistant Martina Radwan; Kings Of The Road by Heaven Knows What co-director Benny Safdie; production associate on Paris, Texas, Ulla Zwicker; Pina Bausch scholar Royd Climenhaga on Pina; Wendy & Lucy director Kelly Reichardt on The State Of Things; Wenders' former assistant Ulla Zwicker on Tokyo-Ga and Wings Of Desire.

Wim Wenders: Portraits Along The Road runs through September 24 at the IFC Center and will be touring to Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Houston, Austin and Vancouver.
