The actor Jamie Foxx has dismissed those calling him a hero after he pulled a man from a burning truck just moments before it was engulfed in flames. He just had to do something, he said, and it all worked out.

Foxx was relxing at home when he heard the crash, which took place just outside his house in Ventura County, California. 32 year old Brett Kyle had been driving along the road when his truck suddenly skidded into a ditch, rolling several times and catching fire. The actor called 911 and ran to the scene where he found Kyle trapped. Explaining that Kyle had to cooperate with him because he was unable to walk away, he coaxed the injured man into moving jsut enough to make it possible to pull him free.

Kyle is now in hospital with a punctured lung and several broken bones, but he's expected to recover. Foxx today met with his father, Brad, who wanted to express his gratitude. He had seen a video of the crash which showed several other people driving past without helping,, and he praised the actor for stepping in without fear for his own life.

"God had his arms wrapped around all of us," said Foxx.
