The nominations for this year's BAFTAs were announced today, with The Shape Of Water, which just secured the Best Director prize for Guillermo Del Toro at the Golden Globes, taking a spectacular lead. Darkest Hour and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri are next in the pack, with nine nominations apiece, and there is some love shown for blockbusters Blade Runner 2049 and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which fans have complained have been overlooked by other awards bodies.

The awards have been criticised for their lack of diversity, with no women featuring in the Director category and no people of colour in either the Best Leading Actress or the Best Supporting Actor categories. BAFTA has previously made a commitment to increasing diversity in the film industry.

The awards ceremony will take place on 18 February.
