Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has announced that his production company Feigco Entertainment will be adding an inclusion rider for future film and television projects.

Inclusion riders involve a specific clause being added to contracts requiring projects to have diverse casts and crews.

Feig – whose films also include the female-driven spy comedy Spy and female cast version of Ghostbusters – wrote on Twitter yesterday: “Thrilled to announce that Feigco Entertainment is officially adopting an #inclusionrider for all our film and TV productions moving forward. Thank you to @Inclusionists and Stacy L Smith for their guidance and inspiration. We challenge other companies and studios to do the same."

Smith is a director of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who first proposed the idea of the inclusion rider initiative. The idea got a boost at this year's Oscars when Frances McDormand highlighted it in her best actress acceptance speech.

Earlier this week Black Panther star Michael B Jordan announced he would be adding the rider to his future projects.

Pear Street Films – founded by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck – have also announced on Twitter they will adopt the initiative going forward.
