Cinemagoers were unexpectedly evacuated from Glasgow's Renfrew Street Cineworld today. The incident took place just before 5pm, with a statement since released saying that the cinema will remain closed for the rest of the night. No reason for the closure was initially given but it has since been established that there is a problem with its emergency lighting.

Cancelled screenings include Pacific Rim: Uprising, Ready Player One and Isle Of Dogs. People with tickets for tonight's screenings will receive full refunds. The company has apologised for any inconvenience. It noted that its other branches in the area are open as usual and that it hopes to reopen the Renfrew Street cinema as soon as possible.

The cinema was recently forced to close due to the Sauchiehall Street fire, though it suffered no direct damage from the fire or smoke.
