It' the story of a group of factory workers from East Kilbride whose act of solidarity with Chilean workers defied the Pinochet regime. It premièred at this year's Glasgow Film Festival, and now Nae Pasaran, extended from the 2013 short film of the same name, has won Best Feature Film a this year's Scottish BAFTAs.

Speaking about the award for his film, which is now on release in selected UK cinemas director Felipe Bustos Sierra said: "All of us are over the moon both with this award and the public reception for the film. Preserving this story for future generations was a great motivator when making this film and winning a BAFTA for Best Film goes a long way towards fulfilling this. Thank you to BAFTA Scotland and the audiences across the country who welcomed the film in cinemas this weekend."

Meanwhile, maintaining the focus on international events, Armando Iannucci is taking home both Best Director and Best Writer prizes for his contributions to The Death Of Stalin.

Actor Alan Cumming received his award for outstanding contribution to cinema from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Accepting the award, the star - who studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland - said: "I wouldn't be an actor if I wasn't born in Scotland..

"My parents wouldn't have been able to afford to send me to an institution as good as the one I went to, if I was born anywhere else."
