Alfonso Cuarón's Roma has secured the 2018 awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography from the New York Film Critics' Circle. One of the first big events of the season, the announcement of these prizes are seen as important in shaping up the list of contenders for Golden Globes and Oscar glory. They will be presented at a special dinner in January.

Roma, which opened this year's Venice Film Festival and won the Golden Lion, is based in part on the Mexican director's childhood.
