Roma won Best Film at tonight's BAFTAs but there was also good news for The Favourite, which won seven awards including the first of the night, for Outstanding British Film. Receiving the award, director Yorgos Lanthimos said that it had been a 20 year project and that he had only worked on the latter half of it. "We're going to get so pissed later," said Best Actress winner Olivia Colman.

Fans went wild as stars arrived on the red carpet at London's Royal Albert Hall, with Viola Davis (nominated for Widows) and Bohemian Rhapsody's Rami Malek greeting fans, Amy Adams talking about her excitement at the success of Vice and Richard E Grant discussing his excitement at receiving his first ever nomination from the organisation, for his role in Can You Ever Forgive Me? With the temperature in London a mere six degrees Celsius, many stars were shivering, but some, like Rachel Weiss, Thandie Newton and Octavia Spencer, still toughed it out in shimmering gowns.

The ceremony was hosted by Joanna Lumley, who noted Bradley Cooper's five nominations for different jobs on A Star Is Born and told him that he needs to learn how to delegate.
