Dune leads BAFTA nominations

Sci-fi spectacle receives 11 nods

Denis Villeneuve's science-fiction extravaganza Dune leads the nominations for this year's BAFTA Film Awards with 11.

Jane Campion's western The Power Of The Dog, Benedict Cumberbatch and Kristen Dunst received eight nominations, while Sir Sir Kenneth Branagh's semi-autobiographical tale of childhood Belfast received six nods.

The Best Director category was an international affair, with two French directors - Audrey Diwan and Julie Ducournau, for Happening and Titane, going up against Japanese filmmaker Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, New Zealander Campion, Brit Aleem Khan (for After Love) and American Paul Thomas Anderson (Licorice Pizza).
