It was a double success for Maggie Gyllenhaal at the Independent Spirit Awards last night as her début directorial work The Lost Daughter was named Best Picture and won her the Best Director award. This year's list of winners was very varied, with no big names dominating the event, which suggests that the field is still wide open with other major awards ceremonies still to go.
