The European Film Academy has revealed the nominations for LUX – The European Audience Film Award, presented by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy in partnership with the European Commission and Europa Cinemas.

This year the five nominated films include Berlin Golden Bear winner 20,000 Species Of Bees, the debut of Spanish filmmaker Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren, İlker Çatak' The Teacher's Lounge and Aki Kaurismäki's Cannes Jury Prize-winning Fallen Leaves. Also in the runing are two documentaries. Nicolas Philibert's Berlin Golden Bear winner On The Adamant and Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, by Finnish director Anna Hints, which won a Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.

The announcement marks the official kick-off of the 2024 LUX Audience Award: The five nominated films will now be subtitled in all 24 EU languages to be accessible to the widest audience possible. The winner will be determined by the general public and the Members of the European Parliament (each holding 50% of the vote) - with voting taking place at www.luxaward.eu.
