Kneecap was the big winner in the craft categories at the the British Independent Film Awards.

Alex Garland’s dystopian drama set in near-future America, Civil War, saw David Simpson win Best Effects, while Glenn Freemantle, Mary H Ellis and Howard Bargroff won Best Sound for their work on it.

Pulp noir Love Lies Bleeding saw Ben Fordesman take home the Best Cinematography gong.

Best Costume Design went to Michael O’Connor for Firebrand, the tense drama of Henry VIII’s 6th wife Katherine Parr’s fight for survival, while Best Make-Up and Hair Design went to Lisa Mustafa for her work on Unicorns.

Rounding out the awards was Jan Houllevigue, who took home Best Production Design for future-set The Assessment.

The winners in all remaining categories will be announced at the 27th BIFA ceremony on December 8 at The Roundhouse.
