Split screen photography is only part of writer/director Sasha Yevtushenko's sophistication. This 10-minute beauty has been dressed to kill.
Two Japanese kids in London, both attractive and young and doing summer stuff, wandering, photographing the people, enjoying the sun. He likes to film everything. She's bored and walks into the park, where a leather-jacketed dodgy geezer dances with her on the grass. He has his reasons, she has her moment. One gains, the other loses. The rush of life goes on
There is a story and it holds. Yevtushenko has the cinematic eye of a thriller maker. He really understands how to use imagery and his camera work is exceptional.
Occasionally, when watching a short film, you sense a talent stretching beyond the confines of this limited space. And so it is here.
