When I read that this film had been constructed purely using a mobile phone, a frisson of panic ran through my veins as I recalled the snoozefest that is Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me It Would Become This Bad In Afghanistan. Fortunately, Martyn Holmes' film is far superior and makes much cleverer use of a mobile.
The story concerns a woman (narration provided by Gratia Churchill) who describes her relationship with Phil (Martyn Holmes) from its inception. Images from a cameraphone are used, along with video footage, as the woman talks us through the stages of their romance, with things becoming more sinister by the second.

This is bad lurve and by revealing things step by step, firstly as still images and then through video, Holmes notches up the tension. A clever and innovative idea.
Out to own as part of the Final Cut: Take Three DVD short film collection.
