Flighty

Made in just a month as part of the University of Wales Animators in Residence scheme, it seems appropriate that Leigh Hodgkinson's latest animation should concern the short life span of the butterfly.
Given that they only have around two weeks to live - finding a partner is presumably hell and, here, Hodgkinson lifts the lid on butterfly speed-dating.
At less than two minutes in length this short doesn't outstay its welcome and the script keeps great pace with the animation in Hodgkinson's trademark style - a sort of collage effect is used for faces and heads and bodies waggle in perpetual motion. If you haven't caught any of this up-and-coming animator's work yet, it - like that of her fellow artists over at Slinky - is highly recommended.
