Glue

Glue is an uber-short short – at three and a half minutes little more than a sketch, or even trailer for the main event – about being stuck in a relationship, a friendship and that moment when reality arrives and finally you break free.

We've all been there. Agnes (Poppy Lironi) is a young woman 'stuck on' Anna (Jess Brodie). Or in this case, waiting in a bar for her to show up.

Are they friends? Lovers? It is never quite spelt out, though the accompanying notes tell us that after getting stuck to the past and now trying to move forward, 'Agnes meets her ex for the first time since their break up.'

All the same, we must thank director and writer Eleanor Capaldi for a film that uses sharp observation and economy of dialogue to set a scene and provides neat resolution to same in the short time available.

It is worth the watch: as well as the hope that Capaldi has more of the same up her sleeve. Either a continuation of this story, in which case, Glue is a great introduction to – or resolution of - a more complicated story. Or something altogether different.
