Magic Paris

It’s the sort of romance many people dream of. There you are, in the city of romance, taking time out on your own for the first time. When you head to a restaurant for a night out, there’s a man, he catches your eye and before you can say “how are you?” he kisses you and whisks you back to his pad, complete with dog.
This is an enjoyable and romantic little short, with a good dollop of wry humour. Writer/director Alice Winocour has come up with an excellent twist and her camerawork is also engaging. She uses the contrast in skin colour between the blonde (Johana Ter Steege) and black (Eriq Chouaney) artistically. But it’s the dog who steals the show.
