Me & Her

Me & Her

Short films should pack a punch. With a general runtime of 15 minutes or less, you shouldn’t find yourself waiting out the first five, wondering if anything will actually happen.

Unfortunately, that’s how you’ll spend the first third of this short about a relationship between two cleaners in a city hotel. There’s an attempt to build tension by saying things without words and, while the acting is certainly competent, it can’t cover up the lack of plot development or character depth.

Once things get going – in the messy room from hell - Me & Her becomes more engaging but its hard to know what tone filmmaker Sarah Tripp is trying to strike. There are moments of almost humour, which hit an odd note, and moments of tension, which work a lot better, but in the end you just don't care enough about what happens.
