Proving that everywhere holds a story comes Niddrie Bricks. In this case, the house with the tale to tell is part of a row in the Niddrie area of Edinburgh that is about to be knocked down in the name of progress.
Scott Whitelaw, who used to live in one of the homes there, returns to the area to take photos of it before it disappears. He and his brothers recall the area as it was when they were young and lament its passing.
This is a straightforward documentary, telling its tale through talking heads intercut with the demolition of the houses. It does provide an insight into the area, and the men's stories of the very different 'demolition' of the community that was brought about by the drugs trade remind you of the thousands of 'Niddries' up and down the land that were ravaged by recesson.
Despite this, however, it will inevitably be of more interest to those familiar with it already than those who live elsewhere.
