Nowhere, No One
Reviewed by: Scott Macdonald
The main character is off to visit his daughter; stops halfway, and picks up a stranger who's been resting in the woods - and takes her back to Edinburgh after a quick feed and after efforts at conversation prove futile.
It has a restricted, cold colour palette, shooting on overcast days, and dreary overlong stretches where nothing of note really happens. Some burbled dialogue and snappy tempers doesn't substitute as drama.
An enigmatic conclusion leads me to this simple question - just what is this movie about? There are no surprises, nothing really of interest, just a collection of surly, unsympathetic characters going from one place to another. It all amounts to a strangely cold road-trip picture - with some well-acted scenes, but doesn't do anything with its story to make it memorable, or worthwhile.
