Shadow Play

This is quite silly, but in a good way. With an enthusiastic voiceover by Mark Miles-Thomas, and impressive character design by David Lea and John Williams, it's funny stuff. The story is basically an excuse to have funny looking shadows on the screen, from a scientist called Roger to the terrible figure of Colonel Fox. Knowledge being sucked into great machines, the music of Anthony Telfer-Brown, the hands that grow on trees, all build towards success.

Beyond the fact that its protagonists are shadows, Shadowplay has other quirks, the least of which is the cyclical plot, and one of the most striking the absence of written credits - they are read, here, but in fairness Miles-Thomas is so melliflous one almost wishes there were some sort of tome full of names and numbers for him to recite.

This a jaunty, nonsensical chaos that entertains from start to finish.
