Mischa Hedinger takes a temple of consumerism - in this case a very large music store that also sells electrical goods - and proves how easily it can be turned into a confessional.
For in among the widescreen tellies and games machines, people are surprisingly willing to bare their souls for the camera. One girl talks about her dreams of having a family, while her boyfriend struggles to contain his uneasiness at the thought, sensing it she turns to him and says, in a way that means "you haven't heard the end of this": "Lucky they're dreams, right?" Another man initially talks about his desire for something material, but it isn't long before he, too, is sidetracked to talking about affairs of the heart. In fact, it seems that far from purely obssessing about the latest 'must-have' item, it is emotional desires that weigh most heavily on the customers.
Deceptively simple in set up, this short isn't just asking questions of those browsing the store, but of the viewer, regarding priorities, consumerism and the frailty and strength of human connections.
