The Gloaming

The Gloaming

Caleb (Anthony Donaldson) is in hospital with "temporary blindness." He doesn't seem to know why he is there or why the nurse looks so much like his sister. The old man in the bed next to him is spooky and says he sees dead people. Which is all suitably creepy but, sadly, this film has little point.

I was reminded of the rather more expensive, but equally muddled, Trauma as I watched this - and that isn't a good thing. The Gloaming has atmosphere but lacks the plot that would lift it above the average and seems to have very little that it actually wants to say. Plus, having to wait until the closing credits for one of the "reveals" is not a hopeful sign.
