Eye For Film >> Movies >> The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004) Film Review
This fairytale is squarely aimed at pre-teen girls and can have little appeal for anyone over 12.
It stars Anne Hathaway as the clumsy Princess Mia of Genovia, who is required by law to get married before she can become queen. Mia picks a nice English bachelor, but finds a handsome young Genovian keeps getting in the way.
There isn't a single original idea in this film, but, at least, it is more enjoyable than Raising Helen, director Garry Marshall's most recent dud, which is mostly thanks to the presence of Julie Andrews, whose song in the film is given added poignancy by her continuing voice problems.
