Cannes Film Festival celebrated 50 years of its Directors' Fortnight section in 2018 as the overall festival enjoys its 71st edition. The festival opened with Asghar Farhadi's Everybody Knows, starring Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.
Christopher Nolan presented 2001: A Space Odyssey on a remastered 70mm print in the Cannes Classics strand.

The festival ran from May 8 to 19.
