The Leeds International Film Festival continues to go from strength to strength in this, its 20th year. Although younger than its London and Edinburgh brethren, it still prides itself on a varied programme of features, documentaries and short film and this year's event from November 2 to 12, showcases some 220 films.
This year's big draw films include Ben Affleck starrer Hollywoodland. Also fresh from screenings in London are the Hanif Kureshi-scripted Venus and Kevin MacDonald's The Last King Of Scotland. This year there's also a brand new weekend strand, dedicated to horror movies. Fanomenon comprises 11 films, five of which are getting a UK premiere and runs from November 3 to 5. Highlights include a screening of Severance with a Live Director's commentary. News just in is that Isolation has won Silver Melies award.
