Ewan McGregor will be honoured with a Donostia Award at this year's San Sebastian Film Festival next month.
The 41-year-old's latest film The Impossible, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, will also receive it's premiere at the festival.
The film, which is based on the true story of a family who found themselves caught up in the 2004 Thailand tsunami, co-stars Naomi Watts and Geraldine Chapman.
It's testimony to the success of the Scots star - whose roles have included homegrown films such as Trainspotting and Shallow Grave and much bigger Hollywood fare, including the Star Wars franchise and The Ghost Writer - that he will receive the award at such a young age.
Previous recipients include Sir Ian McKellen, Glenn Close, Julia Roberts and Michael Caine.
