The full line-up for next year's Glasgow Youth Film Festival has been announced, with Roger Eggers' historical horror The Witch to be introduced by star Kate Dickie as the opening gala. The festival will close with a special screening of Edward Scissorhands in a converted church.

"This year GYFF has a very eclectic and diverse programme, which reflects not only the GYFF team but also the people we hope will come to see the films," said 16 year old Frances Driscoll, part of the programming team. "Almost all the films we are showing are debut films made by extremely talented young filmmakers from across the globe; we chose them because we felt they highlighted the importance of youth voice exceptionally well. The films tackle a wide range of issues in a fresh and interesting way – they stimulated some very profound discussions amongst us, and we hope they will inspire and provoke others, too."

Alongside the films there will be a documentary discussion panel and a filmmaking class designed to help develop young talent, as well as further special events and appearances by special guests such as actor Conor McCarron.

The festival runs from 12 to 15 February. It's supported by The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Creative Media Skills, The City of Science, The Goethe Institute and Sustainable Glasgow.
