Pitching sessions, workshops, networking and more

by Jennie Kermode

The 2018 Glasgow Film Festival today announced its three day Industry Focus event, which will run from 28 February to 2 March. It will include panel discussions, workshops, networking sessions and opportunities to pitch ideas to influential industry figures.

"We’re... thrilled to be offering filmmakers the opportunity to take part in workshops led by industry veterans, one-to-one meetings with leading industry experts, as well as various networking opportunities," said the festival's industry co-ordinator, Maija Hietala.

NFTS Scotland, BAFTA Scotland, Film London, the Glasgow Film Office and Directors UK are all involved in suporting the event. "We are delighted to be partners for this year’s Glasgow Film Festival, especially as Glasgow is the home of our new base in Scotland, which is due to open in April this year," said NFTS director Jon Wardle.

The event, which was announced just as Time Magazine designated 'the silence breakers' as its joint Person of the Year, will include a discussion of harassment in the industry led by Women in Film and TV. It will also feature a live episode of hit podcast Film Disruptors hosted by Alex Stolz.

Passes for the event are now on sale, with students eligible for a discount of more than 50%.
