Frightfest and the Glasgow Film Festival today launched a new competition designed to identify the next wave of Scottish genre filmmakers. They're seeking 90 second films in the horror, science fiction, fantasy or thriller genres, the best of which will screen at the February festival in Glasgow and the main Frightfest event in London in August.

Films submitted must be made by Scottish residents and shot in Scotland, and they should not be available online. The deadline is 13 February and there is no submission fee. Further details are available on the Frightfest site.

"FrightFest is always a major part of the Glasgow Film Festival and we’re delighted to be able to work with them to support the Scottish horror maestros of the future," said Glasgow Film Festival co-director Allison Gardner. "We’re looking forward to seeing what spine-tingling mini-masterpieces our talented local filmmakers come up with and screening them on the big screen at GFT as part of the 2018 festival."
