In My Skin

In My Skin is a disturbing, graphic film about self harm. Its star and creator, Marina De Van, plays a successful career woman who gashes her leg in an accidental fall.
After this incident, she starts feeling uncontrollable urges to cut herself. This shocking behaviour jeopardises her personal relationships and her career.
The film is undeniably powerful, although this is mainly through its sheer shock value.
The treatment of the subject matter is deeply irresponsible, as it seems to argue that the only problem with self-mutilation is society's judgemental fear of this otherwise harmless pleasure.
