Savage Mountain

Beautifully animated with stop motion, with crisp character design and characterisation from that, Savage Mountain is a treat. The goggled mountaineers are not quite expressionless in exactly the right way - think stiff plasticine upper lip rather than wood or ham.
Steve Warne occupies about as many roles as Robert Rodriguez usually does on his films, leaving only two things to others - the score by James Lark is minimal but effective, and though he's got not much more than one line, Ricky Callan's voicework is vital.
At three minutes this is literally only long enough to establish a situation and a twist, but it's delivered with such clarity that it's a totally satisfying punchline. Given how ably it delivers it would be churlish to ask for more, but if Warne can bring similar vision and talent to other, longer, stories he should be encouraged to do so.
