EIFF 2002: Day 7

Lily Chou Chou Party

by Weegeet

Hello again folks!

It's been a fantastic day here today with loads of great directors in town. Simon and I headed off to the party for the premiere of All About Lily Chou Chou at the Delegate Centre tonight.

The director (and I would guess) guest of honour, Shunji Iwai was there before and after the screening at The Filmhouse, and was polite enough to let us have a photograph. He told me that he was having a great time on his first visit to Edinburgh. The film played on the wall throughout the party.

Sitting next to us was Sophie Fiennes, sister of - you've guessed it - Ralph and Joseph. Ralph of course is in town this week too, for his movie, Spider. Sophie, who is incredibly congenial, was here as the director and producer of Hoover St Revival which is premiering the Thursday.

Amongst the other directors, producers and scriptwriters and, of course, hacks propping up the bar were director Vadim Jendreyko (Bashkim), and short film director Eugene Yelchin (My Husband's Son), both of whom I have to say were very sweet, and rather flirty!

Oh, and EIFF director Shane Danielsen sunk a few at the bar, too.

Well, I came home tired and emotional, at any rate, so a relatively good time was had by all.

Rabbit Proof Fence "most popular"?

The latest on most popular film - Rabbit Proof Fence is leading the race to win EIFF Audience Award, starring Kenneth Branagh, who unfortunately didn't make it up to Edinburgh for the screening on Sunday. Running in second place is The Guru - I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
